Tempestfeather

Max met Liz aka Tempestfeather through our friends from Recess collective. We enjoyed her poetical approach to music that we could hear in her Refuge Worldwide podcasts. She played a creative set mixing warm dubby sounds with breaks and deep bass music.

Tempestfeather biography :

Originating from Italy and Indonesia, Tempestfeather is a music selector, writer, and radio host based in Berlin. Growing up between Europe, Asia, and Africa, she developed a flair for wide-ranging and nuanced storytelling. Exposed to a varied blend of cultures, she cultivated an early interest in rhythm and sound, both musically and linguistically. After training in classical guitar and performing as a vocalist in rock bands, she then explored the realm of electronic music, honing her taste as a DJ — and never looked back.

As a music selector, her sound was conceived in Cairo, shaped in London, and refined in Berlin. Drawing on diverse influences, Tempestfeather is a genre-fluid DJ who honed her craft by way of breaks, electro, house, and everything in between. Weaving a multitude of styles and BPMs with a polychromatic slant, her dynamic DJ sets surprise listeners with their storytelling allure — and lean towards a left-field sound, not bound by genres. She leans into her UK influences as a member and resident of events collective Green Room, which strives to enrich the German capital’s nightlife with innovative UK-bass-driven and percussive sounds.

Also a poet and vocalist, Tempestfeather’s range extends across different mediums. She is a radio host for “Sonic Stanza” — part talk and music show — on Refuge Worldwide. Blending music and poetry, she harnesses both mediums’ transcendent power to tap into the unconscious — and celebrates storytelling’s alchemical potential. Expect intimate sonic excursions centered around a particular experience or feeling, that are just as musically broad and diverse as the inner emotional landscapes that evoke them.

Ultimately, Tempestfeather’s love for weaving different forms of self-expression and storytelling transcends mediums — and is in constant flux.
